Do I have to provide a phone number to donate?

Providing a phone number when donating is optional. We pass along your number to the group you gave to and no one else. This contact information is vital for groups running grassroots fundraising programs. We never sell your personal information or share it with anyone beyond the group you gave to, and ActBlue will never text you.

Some groups using ActBlue will give you the option to opt-in to receiving text messages from them when you donate. Opt-in for text messaging is enabled by campaigns and organizations individually, to help them stay compliant with mobile carrier requirements if they are running mass or broadcast texting programs (as opposed to peer-to-peer texting programs, where an individual person texts you).

Groups using our platform are working to build people-powered campaigns, and the way they do that is by keeping in contact and engaging with supporters like you! If you want to stop receiving texts from a specific group, reply STOP to the texts.
